Database Administrator

JOB SUMMARY:
The Database Administrator is responsible for database creation, configuration, tuning, security, backup procedures and restores, if necessary, capacity planning and monitoring. They support a variety of environments (development, test, training and production) and manage changes across environments as specified by change control procedures.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
Essential Functions
20% Perform database tuning of SQL server
20% Responsible for creation, security, backups, version control, and integrity of the databases
30% Responsible for the daily operation, support and monitoring of relational databases
10% Develop and maintain processes for the monitoring, backup, restoration, tuning, and general support of the relational databases
10% Establish and maintain development/testing environments for the various relational database applications
5% Provide reports to management related to disposition of various applications with recommendations that will keep correct any problems

Reports to Position Title: Manager Database Administrator
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Specialized Training/Licensure: High School, GED or equivalent. Bachelors preferred.
Work Experience (Years and Area): Bachelors and 3 years relevant work experience; or 7 years in lieu of degree of which includes related database experience.
Management Experience (Years and Area): 2-4 Years supervising other database staff
Software Proficiencies: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
